Pugs Under-Cover

Issue 02, Jurassic Bark, is nearly ready for the printers! Here’s a sneak preview of what you can expect from Pugs In Space, as Major Ron, Lieutenant Lola and Dr Ted attempt to go about this strange new planet without drawing attention to themselves.

First stop is the ‘How to go about your business on a strange planet undetected’ costume room. There are various options including everything from a simple shoal to draw across your face to the David Bowie Glam-Rock Space Oddity Experience. Which outfit will each Canine Federation Explorer opt for?

Major Ron goes for the classic Star Wars Obi One Kenobi shroud look: “No NASAs (Nasty Alien Sausage Abductors) will recognise me in this outfit” thinks Ron. That’s a nice touch with the cross-bones at the top of his exploring stick. Readers may be wondering exactly what is that little golf bone necklace Ron is often seen wearing? Does it hold a clue to the pugs tracking down the missing sausages? Is it a symbol of something significant from his past? Certainly, in issue 01, Meathook Milo’s sidekick Steve seemed to be very much taken aback when he saw it. Could Ron be some kind of cosmic deity, or some kind of canine royalty? Or is it just a nice gold bone that his mum gave him when he was a pup? All will be revealed as the story unfolds…
Stealth Ted. Functional yet stylish. This approach to reconnaissance work on an unknown planet represents typical canine-android simplicity. It’s a look that means he can blend into the background. After all, what’s so interesting about a labradoodle-android on wheels wearing sunglasses and a camo-print onesy?
For the love of… Lola, as usual, has completely the wrong end of the stick and has gone all Moulin Rouge. If anything is going to blow their cover it’s this outfit. What was she thinking??!!: “I just saw a fancy dress and thought it might be a nice way to meet new people” says Lola. Well, she gets her wish in this episode but the new person she meets may or may not be what she was looking for…
